The Concept of Uniatism: History and Contemporary Use

The article demonstrates that the term “Uniatism” underwent a significant transformation in respect to its original definition proposed by Cyril Korolevsky in the beginning of XX century: its focus shifted from the ritual sphere to the ecclesiological one. The term still needs a further clarification and agreed definition. It is especially crucial for the progress in the Catholic-Orthodox theological dialogue.
