The platform
APECS (Academic Platform for Eastern Christian Studies) is an international academic platform that brings together researchers working on Eastern Christianity. It offers a researcher directory, a bibliographic database, an events calendar, and shared academic resources.
Yes. Access to the platform is entirely free. Researchers can create a profile, submit publications, and participate in academic events at no cost.
The platform covers a wide range of disciplines related to Eastern Christianity: theology, history, patristics, liturgy, archaeology, art and architecture, biblical studies, canon law, hagiography, manuscripts and codicology, musicology, Oriental languages and literature, philosophy, monasticism and spirituality, ecumenism, geopolitics, and more.
The platform interface is currently in English. Content — publications, events, researcher profiles — can be submitted in any language. Multilingual support for the interface is planned for a future release.
Registration & profile
The platform is intended for scholars, researchers, doctoral students, post-doctoral fellows, and academic institutions working in the field of Eastern Christianity. Registration is subject to review by our team to ensure the academic quality of the directory.
Click on "Register" in the main menu and fill in the form with your academic details: name, institution, disciplines, biography. After review and approval, you will receive a confirmation email and can complete your profile.
We aim to review registration requests within a few working days. You will be notified by email once your account has been approved.
Yes. You can update your profile at any time from your personal area: biography, photo, institution, disciplines, contact details, and visibility settings.
Yes. From your profile settings, you can choose to make your email and phone number visible to everyone, to registered members only, or to keep them fully private.
Publications & events
Once logged in, go to "My publications" in your personal area and click "Submit a publication". Fill in the required fields: title, type, authors, abstract, year, and submit. Your publication will appear on the platform after a brief review.
You can submit articles, books, book chapters, conference papers, theses and dissertations, edited volumes, and other academic works related to Eastern Christianity.
Yes. When submitting a publication, you can search for and link co-authors who are registered on the platform. The publication will then appear on each co-author's profile.
From your personal area, go to "My events" and click "Submit an event". Provide the event details: title, dates, location, description, and submit for review. Approved events appear in the public calendar.
Privacy & data
The platform complies with GDPR regulations. We do not use third-party analytics, tracking cookies, or advertising services. All fonts are self-hosted. Your data is only used for the purposes of the platform and is never shared with third parties without your consent.
Yes. From your account settings, you can request a full export of your personal data or request the deletion of your account. These tools are also accessible through the WordPress privacy request system.
Only strictly necessary cookies for authentication — WordPress session cookies. No tracking or advertising cookies are used. No consent banner is required.
