Biography
Severus Roger Akhrass (b. 1981, Sarba – Lebanon) is a Syriac Orthodox archbishop and scholar specializing in Patristics and Syriac studies. He earned his Ph.D. in Patristics from the Catholic University of Paris (2013, summa cum laude), with a critical edition of Michael the Great’s work on the confession of sins. He has taught theology at St. Aphrem Theological Seminary (Syria) and the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (Lebanon), and since 2014 serves as Director of the Department of Syriac Studies at the Syriac Orthodox Patriarchate. His research focuses on Church Fathers, Syriac Liturgy, ecclesiology and ecumenism.
